Fic Rec: The Laundry Ultimatum

You have GOT to read this! The Laundry Ultimatum, by [info]explodedpen. It's an SGA Genficathon story about one of those overlooked-but-essential jobs in Atlantis: The Laundry Guy.

It is hilarious--the OC is fantastically likeable and there's some great observations about Team Sheppard, along with some truly outrageous native Pegasus galaxy fauna. Go, read, laugh your ass off. You can thank me later. :)

Fic Rec: Difficulties in Mathematics

Popping in before waking Z with a quick fic rec:

Difficulties in Mathematics, by [info]jadesfire2808.

THIS is what the final episode should have been (even though it's kind of a 'Shrine' tag)--this is TEAM and SCIENCE and ADVENTURE and AWESOMESAUCE. GO AND READ IT AND WALLOW IN TEAM-LOVE. AND MATH. And laugh--it's hilarious.

From Jades' summary:

Rodney paused, trying to think how he was going to explain without causing a general panic. Tact was probably called for and it would be as well to watch his words until he was absolutely sure about what was going on.

Of course, the words that actually came out of his mouth were, "Atlantis is about to be sucked into a black hole."

Teyla

Rec: Genus: Wraith

A quick rec for all the SGA fans: Genus: Wraith is [info]jadesfire2808's remix of [info]cupidsbow's Class: Insecta, and it is AWESOME.

In the original story, [info]cupidsbow explores what might have happened had Sheppard not become completely human again after his transformation in "Conversion." It's a great McSheppy read, in part because of the details.

The REMIX takes the idea that John is part wraith and shows us this, from Teyla's POV. Which makes it truly fabulous, because Teyla doesn't get as much love as she should, methinks. But Jades manages to pull all kinds of additional detail out that the original doesn't mention. And the END! The end is so emotionally satisfying, like a fudge brownie. :)

Go, read it, tell Jades how awesome she is. Because she is.

Fic Rec: Dangerous Ground

This one is for EVERYBODY on my f-list, SGA and House fans alike: Dangerous Ground by [info]pwcorgigirl. (Two parts; link goes to first part and there's a link to part two.)

This is an AWESOME crossover, with a truly terrifying medical mystery that will please the House fans and a fabulous Sheppard voice and perspective to make the SGA fans giddy. It is tightly written (as all of corgigirl's writing is; she is one of my heroes) and tense. Since she hews to Sheppard's POV, it might be slightly more comfortable for those only familiar with SGA, but even if you're not an SGA fan, you'll still love the story for the House and Wilson post-S4 finale insights.

Go, read, enjoy, comment. Corgigirl once made me love a six-fandom crossover when I was only familiar with one of the fandoms; she is THAT GOOD.

Sheppard

Fic Rec: Telling

[info]deelaundry has finally posted her most awesomely hurty post-Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell John/Rodney fic, Telling. I highly recommend it--Dee has a way of taking beloved characters and exploring those aspects of their personality, those potentials that our favorite characters embody, that we generally prefer to gloss over. In Telling she turns fanon!John Sheppard inside out and yet still gives us a scenario that makes total sense, all while injecting sharp humor and excellent Rodney. Go, read, and comment, because I want to encourage the Muse to continue the sequel!
